Making Every Contact Count - Customer Service Training

The Making Every Contact Count (MECC) e-learning course teaches you how to use short, meaningful conversations to support residents' health and wellbeing. In just 30-40 minutes, you'll learn the MECC principles, including the 3As model (Ask-Advise-Assist) and explore how to effectively signpost to resources. This training is designed for anyone working in voluntary or community sectors, NHS employees and those interested in community support. Upon completion, you'll receive a certificate and gain valuable skills to help make a positive impact in your community.


Business Skills Courses

The Award in Business Skills covers the basic principles of accounting as well as giving you a broad overview of working in Business. This qualification can offer a route into employment, support you in your existing work, or help you to pursue further study with AAT.

This course is accredited. You will gain a level 1 Award in Business Skills.

You will learn the following:

Working in the Business Environment:

  • Develop skills for the workplace.
  • Understand how organisations operate.
  • Understand how sales and purchases support businesses.
  • Apply business procedures to sales and purchases.

Using numbers in business:

  • Perform simple business calculations.
  • Calculate decimals, fractions, percentages, proportions and ratios.
  • Use tools and techniques to present numerical data.

Before joining the course, you will need to complete a short assessment to make sure this course is suitable for you.

Once you have successfully passed the AAT Level 1 Award in Business Skills, you can progress onto AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping. Speak to your tutor for further guidance.

Course Enrolment:

We have online and face to face appointments available, daytime and evening.

Face to Face Assessment:

The face-to-face session will last for around 2 hours, you will watch a short presentation on our AAT offer, followed by a short assessment in English and Maths.

Online Assessment:

The Link to the online session will be sent the day before the session. You will watch a presentation about our course offer. You will have the opportunity to ask questions. After the information session a link for an online English and Maths assessment will be sent to you. You will be expected to complete these within a given timeframe.

Each assessment can take 40mins to complete. Assessment is used to place you on the appropriate level course and to identify any barriers to learning, so support needs can then be put in place if required.

The course provides a nationally recognised qualification and is designed to help individuals develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively lead and manage a team of people in a professional setting.

The course covers topics such as communication, motivation, delegation, conflict resolution, goal setting, and performance management. The aim of this course is to equip you with the tools needed to lead a team to success, and to help you develop the confidence and competence necessary to handle a range of managerial tasks and responsibilities.

You will learn the core skills needed to lead a team successfully as well as motivation techniques to get the best from people and how to plan, allocate and monitor work. The course will also give you tools and techniques to develop yourself as a leader.

After completing a team leading course you may be able to progress to a variety of roles within your organisation or industry. Some possible career paths for someone with team leading skills and knowledge could include:

Managerial roles:

After completing a team leading course you should be well-equipped to move into a managerial position within your current organisation. This could involve overseeing a larger team, setting strategic goals, and making decisions that impact the overall direction of the company.

Project management roles:

With an understanding of communication, delegation, and goal setting, you may be well-suited to a role in project management. This could involve managing a specific project from start to finish, ensuring that deadlines are met, and that the team is working effectively together.

Digital Courses

This course is accredited by Gateway meaning you will gain an Award in Digital and IT Skills at Level 2. You will learn the following:

  • Understand the features of spreadsheet software and how spreadsheets are used.
  • Create spreadsheets using advanced formulae and functions to process data.
  • Be able to create a presentation for different purposes and audiences.
  • Be able to amend layout, edit and format a presentation to ensure accessibility.

Before joining the course you will need to complete a short assessment to make sure this course is suitable for you, unless you have completed Level 1 course and are progressing to the next level.

While studying this course you will learn:

  • What WordPress is.
  • How to plan your web site.
  • Adding pages and text, images and videos.
  • Creating a custom menu.
  • How to use 'Themes' to change the appearance of your site.

To join this course you must have a good level of IT skills and be able to: open, save and name files, be able to create a folder and move files from one folder to another, be aware of different types of file and be confident using the internet, be able to type 20 words per minute and be able to understand spoken and written instructions in English.

While studying this course you will learn:

  • At the end of this course you will have a good working knowledge of Excel basics.
  • You will feel more confident using Excel and be able to create a spreadsheet from scratch.
  • Understanding and using some of the built in calculation and formula functionality.
  • Spreadsheets that you create will be easier to use and look more presentable.

After completing this course you will be prepared to attend the Excel Intermediate training course.

While studying this course you will learn:

  • Types of charts and choosing appropriate chart types to match the data.
  • Chart components.
  • Moving and sizing charts.
  • Printing and pre-viewing charts.
  • Using the Chart toolbar.

You will also learn about formatting the main chart components legend, data labels, titles, data series, formatting the plot area, chart area, walls, gridlines and axes, changing the 3-D view and adding/changing data series. You will also find out how to insert/link a chart into a Word document.

This course will help you understand and use functions (sum, average, min, max, count). You will also learn about nested functions, relative and absolute references and how to create simple formula using the point-and-click method, create a complex formula using the order of operation and how to edit formulas.
